FOREST CABIN
Design Proposal - 12m2- 2 Levels - 2019 - NORWAY
Inspired by renovating and dwelling in a Norwegian lake side cabin for two weeks in the summer of 2018, this design concept looks to optimise space by placing sleeping facilities on a mezzanine floor above the utility spaces. Transportable and relocatable, steel pole legs offer minimal impact on the forest floor and elevate the building above the moisture of the ground. The building shape is driven from the autonomous technology that is integrated throughout the cabin. Rain water is collected off roof and stored in a potable water tank under the floor, which also houses grey and black water tanks. Solar panels charge batteries that store energy for consumption as required. A small skylight enables the occupants to see the stars and aids in stack effect natural ventilation.
