This project is in collaboration with Lepoutre Interior Architects. An extension and renovation of an existing 110m2 bungalow house of 5 in a beach suburb in Auckland. The brief for this project, was to create more livable space for a growing family, whilst respecting the existing bungalow and creating more space in a very tight section. The design response is a contemporary addition to the bungalow consisting of a monolithic plastered brick volume. The extension houses the entry, kitchen, powderoom and sunken living space as well as an outdoor terrace. Shifting these functions from the bunglow to the extension allowed for a plan ‘unlock’ which created more usable space throughout the house.
